Once again, Eli is using his superpowers (cuteness, charm, and beautiful blonde hair) to help other preschool aged children with Visual Impairment. Please join Team Eli's Avengers and help him raise $1,000 to benefit Visually Impaired Preschood Services.

Eli was diagnosed with Oculocutaneous Albinism at 6 months. This type of Albinism means a loss of pigment in both hair and skin. While Eli has light blue eyes he has no retina coloration, so he is very sensitive to light as he lacks normal filtering. Eli also has Strabismus (improper alignment of they eyes) and Nystagmus (involuntary eye movement) which frequently accompany Albinism.

While Eli's visual impairment is on the milder side, he has special needs that need to be determined and met to help him best learn and communicate. Because of the work VIPS has done with him and with us, his family in helping us help him, we feel confident Eli will assimilate and thrive in a regular classroom environment when he begins Kindergarten in 2018. While we may have made a decent go of things on our own, we cannot begin to account for the strides in function and confidence VIPS has given Eli that will help him to use all he has to his fullest potential, and to self-advocate when he needs assistance in the classroom.

VIPS is a non-profit organization with classrooms and outreach programs serving over 525 children of all ranges and types of visual needs, from "low vision" to total blindness throughout Kentucky and Indiana. We are so grateful to this school, the teachers and assistants, the staff and the volunteers who give these kids with visual impairment an amazing boost toward their independence.

Thank you for your support!

Sincerely,

Captain America
